Valvesystem

Valvesystem refers to an assembly of valves and related equipment designed to regulate the flow and pressure of fluids in a piping network. It can control liquids, gases, or slurries, and is used in industrial, commercial, and utility applications. The configuration typically includes pipes, valves, actuators, and control instrumentation, plus safety and utility devices.

Valves in a system can isolate, regulate, or check flow. Isolation valves (such as gate, ball, or butterfly) stop flow; throttling valves (like globe or needle) modulate flow; check valves prevent reverse flow. Actuators provide remote or automated operation, using manual handwheels, electric motors, pneumatics, or hydraulics. Positioners, sensors, and controllers enable feedback control and automatic adjustment of flow and pressure.

Design and selection depend on fluid properties (chemistry, temperature, pressure, viscosity), installation environment, and required reliability. Materials range from stainless steel and alloys to certain plastics. Standards such as API, ANSI, ISO, and ASTM guide design, testing, and pressure ratings. Common applications include water supply and distribution, wastewater treatment, oil and gas pipelines, chemical processing, power generation, and HVAC systems.

Maintenance and safety are essential. Regular inspection, leakage testing, actuator calibration, and valve-seat replacement help prevent failures. Safety devices such as relief valves and fail-safe actuation ensure controlled shutdown or safe positioning during disturbances.
