Valamismenetelmä refers to a casting method used in manufacturing. It involves pouring molten material, typically metal, into a mold and allowing it to solidify. Once the material has cooled and hardened, the mold is removed, leaving behind a cast object that replicates the shape of the mold cavity.

There are various types of casting methods, each suited for different materials and applications. Sand casting is one of the oldest and most common, using a mold made from sand mixed with a binder. Investment casting, also known as lost-wax casting, creates highly detailed and intricate shapes by encasing a wax pattern in a ceramic shell. Die casting uses reusable metal molds (dies) under high pressure to force molten metal into the mold cavity, producing precise and uniform parts quickly. Permanent mold casting utilizes reusable metal molds but relies on gravity rather than high pressure for filling.

The choice of casting method depends on factors such as the material being cast, the desired shape and complexity, the required surface finish, dimensional accuracy, production volume, and cost considerations.
