Vahendamento

Vahendamento is a term that refers to the process of mediation or intermediation. A vahendaja, or mediator, is an impartial individual who guides the discussion, helps identify underlying interests, and explores potential solutions. They do not impose decisions but rather assist the parties in finding their own resolutions. This can involve separate meetings with each party, known as caucuses, to understand their perspectives and concerns more deeply.

The principles of vahendamento typically include confidentiality, voluntariness, and impartiality. Parties usually enter mediation voluntarily, and the discussions held during the process are kept private. The mediator's role is to remain neutral and avoid taking sides.
