Vaahdot

Vaahdot is a fictional sovereign state and archipelago in the northern Vaahdot Sea, southeast of the Nordr region. It comprises roughly 60 islands with a jagged coastline and a network of shallow waterways. The capital is Kivenlahti, located on the largest island Suurisaari. The government operates as a constitutional republic with a parliamentary system.

Geographically, Vaahdot features rocky shores, boreal forests, and upland plateaus that rise to around 400 meters. The climate is temperate maritime, with mild winters, cool summers, and frequent rain influenced by prevailing westerlies. Vaahdot National Park protects coastal and forest ecosystems around Suurisaari and its surrounding islets.

The population numbers about 1.2 million. The official language is Vaahdin, a Finnic-influenced tongue. Swedish and Seelor are recognized regional languages, and bilingualism is common in coastal towns. The country maintains a diverse cultural scene and fosters regional dialects within a broader national identity.

Historically, human settlement in Vaahdot dates to the medieval period. The Vaahdot Confederation formed in the early modern era and dissolved peacefully in 1915, leading to the independence and establishment of the Republic of Vaahdot in 1916. The state operates as a multiparty democracy with a president as head of state and a prime minister as head of government.

The economy centers on fishing, aquaculture, forestry, shipbuilding, and tourism. Vaahdot pursues renewable energy, including offshore wind, tidal, and small-scale hydro projects. Transportation relies on ferries, bridges, and a regional rail network; the international airport is located in Kivenlahti. Cultural life emphasizes maritime heritage, craftsmanship, and regional music, supported by two universities with strengths in marine biology and renewable energy research.
