V2Xkommunikációból, often shortened to V2X, stands for Vehicle-to-Everything communication. It is a wireless communication technology that enables vehicles to exchange information with various entities in their surroundings. This communication can occur between a vehicle and other vehicles (V2V), between a vehicle and infrastructure such as traffic lights or road signs (V2I), between a vehicle and pedestrians (V2P), and between a vehicle and the network or cloud (V2N).

The primary goal of V2X communication is to enhance road safety and improve traffic efficiency. By sharing real-time data about speed, position, direction, and braking status, V2X can help prevent collisions. For example, a vehicle can be alerted to a car braking suddenly ahead, even if it's not visible to the driver, allowing for earlier and safer braking. Similarly, V2I can inform vehicles about upcoming traffic light changes or potential hazards on the road, reducing congestion and optimizing traffic flow.

V2X technology relies on various communication protocols, with Dedicated Short-Range Communications (DSRC) and Cellular V2X (C-V2X) being the most prominent. DSRC operates in a dedicated radio spectrum, while C-V2X leverages cellular networks. Both aim to provide low-latency communication essential for real-time safety applications.

The widespread adoption of V2X is seen as a crucial step towards enabling autonomous driving and building smart cities. It lays the foundation for more advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and ultimately fully autonomous vehicles, contributing to a safer and more efficient transportation ecosystem.
