Vöðvahypertrofía, commonly known as muscle hypertrophy, refers to the increase in the size of muscle cells. This process is a fundamental adaptation to resistance training and other forms of physical stress. When muscles are subjected to sufficient mechanical tension and metabolic stress, microscopic tears occur within the muscle fibers.
