Võrgutopoloogiad refer to the physical or logical arrangement of nodes and connections within a computer network. Understanding these arrangements is crucial for network design, performance optimization, and troubleshooting. The physical topology describes the actual layout of the cables and devices, while the logical topology describes how data flows between devices.

Several common topologies exist. The bus topology connects all devices to a single central cable, known as a backbone. While simple and inexpensive, it can suffer from collisions and is difficult to troubleshoot if the backbone fails. The star topology connects each device to a central hub or switch. This offers better performance and easier fault isolation, as a failure in one connection doesn't affect the rest of the network. However, it relies heavily on the central device.

The ring topology connects devices in a closed loop, with data passing from one device to the next. This can offer good performance but is also susceptible to single points of failure if a device or link breaks the ring. The mesh topology connects every device to every other device. This provides high redundancy and reliability, as there are multiple paths for data, but it is complex and expensive to implement due to the sheer number of connections.

Hybrid topologies combine elements of two or more basic topologies to leverage their respective strengths and mitigate their weaknesses. For instance, a star-bus topology might connect multiple star networks to a common bus. The choice of topology depends on factors such as cost, scalability, reliability, and performance requirements of the network.
