Võnkumistest, a term often encountered in physics and engineering, refers to the study and analysis of oscillatory motion. Oscillations are repetitive variations, typically in time, of some measure about a central value or between two or more different states. This phenomenon is ubiquitous in nature and technology, ranging from the simple swing of a pendulum to the complex vibrations of a bridge or the behavior of subatomic particles.

The fundamental characteristic of oscillatory motion is its periodicity. A system that undergoes võnkumistest will return to its initial state after a specific time interval, known as the period.
