Växellådspositioner

Växellådspositioner refer to the different settings or gears available in a vehicle's transmission. These positions control how the engine's power is delivered to the wheels, allowing for varying speeds and torque.

In manual transmissions, common positions include Neutral (N), where the engine is disengaged from the drivetrain, and Reverse (R), used for moving backward. Then there are the forward gears, typically numbered 1 through 5 or 6, with lower gears providing more torque for starting from a stop and higher gears offering more speed for cruising. A clutch pedal is used to disengage the engine from the transmission when shifting between these positions.

Automatic transmissions also have positions, but they shift gears automatically without driver intervention. Common positions include Park (P), which locks the transmission to prevent rolling, and Reverse (R). Drive (D) is the primary forward gear position, where the transmission selects the appropriate gear for acceleration and cruising. Some automatic transmissions also offer lower gear selections, often labeled as L, 2, or S (Sport), to provide increased engine braking or power for specific situations like towing or steep inclines. Manual modes, sometimes indicated by a "+" and "-" symbol, allow the driver to manually select gears within an automatic transmission.
