Uvisheder

Uvisheder is a fictional planetary body featured in the science fiction universe of the novel "Starfall" by author Anya Sharma. It is described as a tidally locked planet, meaning one side perpetually faces its star, Solara, while the other remains in eternal darkness. This extreme condition creates distinct ecological zones and unique challenges for any inhabitants.

The star-facing side, known as the Dayside, is a scorching desert environment. Temperatures are incredibly high, and life here is sparse, adapted to extreme heat and radiation. The only known sentient species to inhabit the Dayside are the K'tharr, a reptilian race with thick, heat-resistant hides and a culture centered around survival and the worship of Solara.

Conversely, the Nightside is a frozen wasteland, perpetually shrouded in darkness and sub-zero temperatures. While seemingly inhospitable, research in "Starfall" suggests the presence of subterranean oceans warmed by geothermal activity, potentially harboring a different form of life. The transition zone between Day and Night, known as the Twilight Belt, is characterized by extreme winds and fluctuating temperatures, making it a dangerous but resource-rich area. It is here that many of the novel's central conflicts unfold, as different factions vie for control of this critical habitable region. Uvisheder's unique characteristics serve as a backdrop for exploring themes of adaptation, survival, and the clash of cultures in extreme environments.
