Uratlerakódás

Uratlerakódás refers to the process of uric acid crystallization and deposition in various tissues and joints of the body. This condition is primarily linked to hyperuricemia, which is an elevated level of uric acid in the blood. Uric acid is a waste product formed during the breakdown of purines, which are found in many foods and are also produced by the body. When uric acid levels become too high, or when the kidneys are unable to effectively excrete it, it can precipitate out of solution and form needle-shaped crystals.

These urate crystals commonly deposit in the synovial fluid of joints, leading to a painful inflammatory condition known as gout. The big toe is a frequent site for gout attacks, but other joints like the ankles, knees, and wrists can also be affected. Beyond joints, urate crystals can also accumulate in soft tissues, forming deposits called tophi. Tophi are typically found around joints, in tendons, and under the skin, and can grow over time, causing joint damage and deformity. Urate crystals can also form kidney stones, a condition known as uric acid nephrolithiasis. The formation of these stones can cause pain, blood in the urine, and potentially kidney damage if left untreated.
