Uplatuje is a fictional geographic term used in speculative fiction and fan-created role-playing settings to denote a high, flat plateau region in the archipelago of Ventrell (fictional). The name first appears in online world-building communities in the 2010s and has since become a common setting element in several works.

Geography and environment: The uplatuje plateau is described as a broad, upland expanse at elevations between 800 and 1200 meters. It features karst limestone, terraced agriculture, cloud forests, and a network of caves and sinkholes. Seasonal mists settle in the valleys, and rivers flow toward the lower coastal plains. The terrain often sits between coastal lowlands and inland valleys, creating a natural boundary in many stories.

People and culture: In many narratives, the Velari (or other local groups) inhabit uplatuje. They are portrayed as stone masons and metalworkers who maintain cliffside granaries and ceremonial caverns. Key traditions include a Great Harvest festival and oral storytelling that preserves memory of the plateau’s founding. Trade routes crossing the plateau link coastal markets with inland settlements, fueling political and social networks.
