UniFi

UniFi is a line of networking products and software from Ubiquiti Inc. designed to provide scalable, centrally managed networking for homes, small businesses, and other deployments. The core of UniFi is the UniFi Network platform, a controller-based system that manages UniFi devices such as access points, switches, and security gateways across multiple sites. The controller can run on various hardware, including the UniFi Cloud Key, UniFi Dream Machine, or a user-provided server, and can also be accessed via a mobile app or cloud-based management.

The hardware family includes indoor and outdoor access points, managed switches with Power over Ethernet, and security gateways that perform routing, firewalling, and VPN. More recently, UniFi products have been integrated into UniFi OS, which bundles Network, Protect, Access, and Talk into a single operating system on dedicated devices like the Dream Machine series.

In use, UniFi emphasizes features such as centralized provisioning, SSID and VLAN segmentation, guest portals, DPI-based traffic visibility, and firmware management. It is popular in small and medium-sized businesses, educational facilities, and prosumer homes due to its cost-effectiveness and dense feature set, albeit sometimes noted for a steeper initial learning curve and reliance on community support for troubleshooting.
