Undercar

Undercar refers to the underside of a vehicle or machine. In automotive contexts, the term is often used as shorthand for the undercarriage—the collection of structural and mechanical systems located below the passenger compartment. The undercar includes the chassis or frame, suspension components, steering linkages, drivetrain elements, the exhaust system, fuel and brake lines, heat shields, and underbody panels or shielding. Aerodynamic features such as underbody diffusers or flat panels may also be part of the undercar to reduce drag and improve stability at speed. In trains and other rail vehicles, the undercarriage refers to the bogies, wheels, axles, braking gear, and related suspension.

Undercar construction varies by vehicle type, but common concerns include corrosion resistance, impact damage from road
