Uintatherium is an extinct genus of uintathere, a group of large, herbivorous mammals that lived during the Eocene epoch. The genus name is derived from the Uinta Mountains in Utah, where the first fossils were discovered. Uintatherium fossils are found in North America and East Asia. This ancient creature was a rhinoceros-sized mammal, reaching up to 1.5 meters (5 feet) tall at the shoulder and weighing an estimated 2,000 kilograms (4,400 pounds).
