UVbron

UVbron is a brand-name term used to describe a family of ultraviolet-protective coatings and materials designed for durable outdoor exposure. The technology aims to reduce ultraviolet degradation in substrates while preserving appearance and clarity, offering protection for plastics, metals, and glass.

The concept emerged in the early 2020s from researchers affiliated with a consortium of materials-science labs. UVbron coatings are described as a layer comprising a crosslinked polymer matrix that hosts both UV-absorbing chromophores and inorganic nanomaterials. The formulation is intended to deliver broad-spectrum UV protection with improved photostability compared with traditional filters.

Mechanistically, UVbron blends organic UV filters with inorganic components to disperse energy and minimize chemical breakdown.
