Työviisumit

Työviisumit, translation "work visas," are a type of residence permit in Finland that grants permission to foreign nationals to work in the country. The permit is typically issued for a specific period and can be renewed or extended, depending on the employer's needs.

To apply for a työviisumit, the employer must obtain a positive labor market settlement (TYV) from the Finnish Immigration Service (Migri). The TYV is granted if the employer can demonstrate that there are no suitable Finnish citizens or EU citizens available for the job. The employer must also ensure that the employee's qualifications and work experience are sufficient for the job.

Once the TYV has been secured, the employer can apply for a residence permit on behalf of the foreign national. The application must be submitted to the Finnish Immigration Service, and the foreign national must undergo a medical examination and may be required to attend an interview.

If the application is successful, the foreign national will be granted a residence permit for the duration of their employment contract, up to a maximum of three years. The permit allows the holder to reside in Finland, but they must still comply with the terms of their employment contract and any other requirements set by the Finnish authorities.

The työviisumit is designed to ensure that foreign workers do not displace Finnish citizens or EU citizens but rather fill specific labor shortages.
