Twistoff

Twistoff is a term used in packaging to describe a type of container closure that uses screw threads and is opened by twisting the cap off the container. It is commonly employed on beverage bottles, condiment jars, and other consumer-packaged goods. The term emphasizes the action of turning the cap and the closure’s ability to be resealed after opening.

Most twistoff closures consist of two main components: the cap and the bottle neck threads. Caps can be metal or plastic and may include a liner to create a hermetic seal. A tamper-evident band or seal is often incorporated to indicate prior opening. The closure provides resealability and can be reapplied after opening, though repeated torque and improper tightening can compromise the seal over time.
