Tuulihyttejä

Tuulihyttejä, translating to "wind cabins" or "wind huts" in Finnish, are traditional structures found in certain rural areas of Finland, particularly in Lapland. These are not conventional dwellings but rather utilitarian buildings designed for specific purposes related to wind and resource management. Historically, tuulihyttejä were often used for storing and drying fish or meat. The open or semi-open design allowed air to circulate freely, which was crucial for preserving food items without refrigeration.

The construction of tuulihyttejä typically involved a simple wooden frame, often with slatted walls or large openings that could be covered with canvas or wooden shutters depending on the weather.
