Tulekolmiku

Tulekolmiku is a fictional town and municipality in the Nordic-inspired realm of Nordranta, appearing in the Nordranta Chronicles. Located on a triangular harbor formed by three rivers, the town’s name combines elements meaning fire and triangle, reflecting its layout and a mythic tradition of three flame markers believed to guide sailors.

The town consists of three historic districts that converge on the central square, Kolmikulmankatu. The Old Harbor sits on the southern shore, the Forest Quarter lies inland, and the Waterfront Quarter hosts the modern port and wind-energy installations. Tulekolmiku's terrain is gently hilly, with mixed forests nearby.

Historically, Tulekolmiku emerged as a trading post in the 14th century, grew through timber, fishing, and shipbuilding, and adopted stone architecture after major fires in 1623 and 1789. In the 20th century it joined a regional federation within Nordranta and developed a diversified economy centered on maritime services, tourism, and renewable energy.

Population is around 7,800, predominantly ethnic Nordranton with several guilds and bilingual signage in Nordronian and Finnish loanwords. The town supports cultural institutions such as the Triad Theater and the Kolmiku Museum of Local History.

Civic life centers on the Municipal Council and a ceremonial mayor. The annual Tulekolmiku Fire Festival marks the start of summer, featuring bonfires on three piers and a procession to honor maritime heritage. Notable landmarks include the Three Bridges, Tulekolmiku Lighthouse, and Kolmik Park.
