Tukimans
Tukimans are an ethnic group inhabiting the coastal lowlands of the southwestern island of Vakar in the Pacific Ocean. Their traditional territory extends along a 120‑kilometre stretch of reef fringe, encompassing mangrove swamps, coral lagoons, and adjacent inland rainforests. Historical accounts suggest that the Tukiman people migrated to Vakar from the neighboring continent of Asman approximately 1,200 years ago, carrying with them distinctive navigational knowledge of the region’s currents.
The Tukiman language belongs to the Vakaric branch of the Oceanic subgroup of the Austronesian language family.
