Tsüstitüüpide refers to the classification of cysts, which are closed sacs or capsules that develop within the body or on its surface. These sacs can contain fluid, semi-solid material, or gas. The categorization of cysts is typically based on their origin, contents, location, and clinical significance.

One common classification distinguishes between true cysts and pseudocysts. True cysts are lined by a distinct epithelial layer, originating from developmental abnormalities, congenital conditions, or neoplastic processes. Examples include epidermal cysts, sebaceous cysts, and ovarian cysts. Pseudocysts, on the other hand, lack an epithelial lining and are typically formed as a result of trauma, inflammation, or infection, where a cavity fills with inflammatory exudate or necrotic debris. Pancreatic pseudocysts are a well-known example.

Cysts can also be categorized by their etiology. Developmental cysts arise during embryonic development, such as branchial cleft cysts or thyroglossal duct cysts. Inflammatory cysts form in response to chronic inflammation, often seen in conditions like hydatid cysts caused by parasitic infections. Neoplastic cysts can be benign or malignant, arising from tumors. Degenerative cysts can develop due to tissue breakdown.

Furthermore, cysts are often identified by their anatomical location, such as skin cysts, ovarian cysts, kidney cysts, or brain cysts. The diagnosis and management of a cyst depend heavily on its type, size, symptoms, and potential for malignancy. Imaging studies like ultrasound, CT scans, or MRI are often used to visualize and characterize cysts, while a biopsy may be necessary for definitive diagnosis.
