Tranzicioneve

Tranzicioneve is a linguistic term for a class of verb forms and markers that encode a transition from one state or event to another, emphasizing the process of change rather than its endpoint. It is discussed in theoretical linguistics and in descriptions of constructed languages to capture subtle transitions such as beginnings, ongoing change, or entry into a new phase.

The term was coined by linguist Marta N. Vero in 2014, combining transition with the suffix -eve to denote a transitional aspect. It has since appeared in conlang grammars and in cross-linguistic surveys of aspectual systems as a way to describe transitional states that do not fit standard imperfective or perfective categories.

Grammatically, tranzicioneve can be realized as a suffix on a verb stem, a dedicated aspect marker, or a clitic attached to the predicate. Its use often coexists with other markers for direction, mood, or telicity. The core meaning is that the event is in progress and moving toward a new state, rather than simply occurring or having finished.

In practice, tranzicioneve enables statements such as "I am beginning to understand" or "The door is starting to close," where the emphasis is on the transition itself. In constructed languages, the -eve form is commonly compatible with both transitive and intransitive predicates and can appear with polarity particles.
