Tragleitern is a highland region and cultural area in the northern highlands of the fictional continent of Aldoria. It comprises a compact plateau shaped by three parallel ridges that rise steeply from the central Trage River valley. The region's climate is cool and humid, with relatively short summers and snowy winters; precipitation is common year-round.

Etymology: The origin of the name Tragleitern is uncertain. Some scholars trace it to a medieval term meaning "three ladders" or "three ledges," referring to the three ridges that dominate the landscape.

Geography: The three ridges create a natural amphitheater around a central basin. The Trage River provides hydroelectric potential and historically powered small mills. Forests cover much of the slopes, with plantations and protected zones.

History: In the Middle Ages, Tragleitern was a fragmented landscape governed by local lords. It later came under the control of the Grand Duchy of Veldren and evolved into the Tragleitern District within the modern federation. The area has preserved fortifications, milestone routes, and traditional farms.

Economy and society: The economy is diversified but small-scale. Main activities include potato and barley farming, timber, and hydropower generation. Tourism, focusing on hiking, scenery, and historical sites, has grown steadily. The region has a small, aging population, with villages centered near the river valleys.

Culture and landmarks: The local language, Traglian, coexists with regional dialects. Notable sites include the Three Ledges Ridge, the Gate Fortress ruins, and the Trage Pass, a historic trade route.

Transportation: Access is via a single major road connecting to the regional capital and a narrow-gauge railway. A seasonal cable car serves the high-crest observatory.
