TouchOberflächen, also known as touch surfaces or touch interfaces, refer to the technology that allows users to interact with electronic devices by touching a screen or panel. These surfaces detect the presence and location of a touch, translating it into commands for the device. This interaction method has become ubiquitous in modern technology, replacing traditional input devices like keyboards and mice for many applications.

The most common type of touch surface technology is capacitive touch. Capacitive screens utilize the conductive properties of the human body to register a touch. When a finger, which is electrically conductive, comes into contact with the screen's surface, it disrupts the electrostatic field of the screen. This disruption is detected by the device and interpreted as an input. Resistive touch screens, another type, work by applying pressure to the screen's surface, which causes two conductive layers to make contact and complete a circuit. While less common now, resistive screens were prevalent in earlier touch devices and can be operated with any object, not just a conductive finger.
