Tornedalen
Tornedalen, also known as the Torne Valley, is a geographic and cultural region centered on the Torne River along the Sweden–Finland border in northern Scandinavia. The valley stretches from the river’s upper courses in northern Sweden to its mouth at the Gulf of Bothnia, where the border follows the river’s course near the twin towns of Haparanda in Sweden and Tornio in Finland. The Swedish portion lies mainly in Norrbotten County, while the Finnish side lies within the Lapland region.
