Tornasia is a fictional parliamentary republic located in a temperate maritime region comprising a mainland peninsula and an archipelago of about sixty inhabited islands. The capital and largest city is Lyrion, situated on the mainland near the central coast. The country features rugged coastlines, dense inland forests, and a network of rivers and fjords that shape settlement and transportation patterns.

Historically, Tornasia emerged through the consolidation of coastal city-states during the early modern period and established its current constitutional framework in the mid-20th century. The government operates under a written constitution that provides for a president as head of state and a prime minister as head of government.
