Tootese

Tootese is a fictional or constructed language developed for the Toot universe and used within conlang communities and speculative fiction. As a designed language, it has no single canonical grammar; instead, multiple projects treat Tootese as an agglutinative language with a preference for verb-focused morphology. The base word order is described as SVO, though flexible in discourse; nouns are marked for number and case by suffixes, while verbs encode aspect, mood, and evidentiality. Pronouns distinguish inclusive versus exclusive first-person plural. The lexicon tends to be thematic, drawing on imagined ecology, technology, and social structure.

Phonology is typically described as relatively straightforward, with a small consonant inventory (for example p, t, k, b, d, g, f, s, h, l, m, n, r, w, j) and five vowels a e i o u. Stress commonly falls on the penultimate syllable. The phonotactics allow common CV and CVC syllables.

Writing systems in Tootese are not standardized; most learners render it in a Latin-based alphabet with diacritics to mark vowel quality or tense. Some projects experiment with a script dedicated to Tootese, used in art, calligraphy, or game materials.
