Toniebox

The Toniebox is an internet-enabled music and story player for children. It is designed to be operated by children without the need for adult supervision once set up. The device itself is a soft, cube-shaped plastic box with a speaker and buttons. It is powered by a rechargeable battery and connects to home Wi-Fi.

Content is accessed by placing small, collectible figurines, called Tonies, on top of the Toniebox. Each Tonie contains pre-loaded audio content such as stories, songs, or educational material. When a Tonie is placed on the box, it is recognized, and the corresponding audio begins to play. Removing the Tonie stops the playback.

The Toniebox requires an accompanying smartphone app for initial setup, where users connect the device to their Wi-Fi network and can manage their library of Tonies. Through the app, users can also purchase new digital Tonies or even record their own audio messages to be played by a special "Creative-Tonie."

The design of the Toniebox is child-friendly, with no sharp edges and a durable construction. The volume is controlled by tilting the Toniebox left or right, and skipping tracks is done by tapping the ears on the top. The concept aims to provide an engaging and screen-free audio experience for children.
