Tomarla
Tomarla is a Spanish verb phrase formed by the verb tomar (“to take” or “to drink”) together with the feminine direct object pronoun la. It is used when the object being referred to is feminine and known from context. The meaning can be either to take something physically or to drink it, depending on the object in question.
In grammar, la attaches to the infinitive or to a conjugated verb, forming forms such as tomarla
- Quiero la bebida; voy a tomarla. (I want the drink; I am going to take/drink it.)
- No la tomes yet. (Don’t take it.)
- Tómela, por favor. (Take it, please.)
- The phrase can refer to a wide range of feminine objects, such as la bebida, la medicina,
- In many contexts, tomarla simply means to consume or ingest the item (especially beverages or medicines),
- For masculine objects, the corresponding form is tomarlo (lo tomas, tómalo, no lo tomes).
