Titere
Titere, also known as titere or titere tree, is a small, deciduous tree native to the tropical regions of Africa, particularly in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is valued for its hard, dense wood, which is used in various applications. The tree is typically found in lowland forests and savannas, often growing to a height of about 10-15 meters. The wood of the titere tree is highly prized for its durability and resistance to rot, making it suitable for construction, furniture making, and tool handles. It is also used in traditional medicine for its supposed medicinal properties. The tree has a straight trunk and a rounded crown, with small, simple leaves and small, white flowers that are pollinated by insects. The fruit of the titere tree is a small, round berry that is eaten by birds. The tree is not considered endangered, but its populations are threatened by habitat loss due to deforestation and agricultural expansion. Conservation efforts are underway to protect the titere tree and its habitat.
