Tirta

Tirta is a Sanskrit word commonly used in Hinduism to refer to holy or sacred water. It holds significant religious importance and is central to many rituals, ceremonies, and spiritual practices across India and other Hindu communities. The concept of tirta is not limited to mere water but encompasses the spiritual merit or purification derived from touching, drinking, or bathing in it.

Tirta is used in various Hindu ceremonies, including puja (worship), Abhishek (ritual bathing of deities), and at birth and death rituals. Water is sprinkled on devotees, offered to idols, and consumed as prasad (consecrated offering).
