Threespot

Threespot is a common name used for several species of fish, most notably members of the genus _Stenogobius_. These small freshwater gobies are found in coastal streams and brackish waters of Australia and Papua New Guinea. They are characterized by the presence of three distinct dark spots, or blotches, on their bodies, typically one behind the gill cover, one in the middle of the flank, and one near the tail fin. The appearance of threespot gobies can range from sandy brown to olive green, providing camouflage against their natural substrate. Threespot gobies are generally peaceful and can be kept in community aquariums, although they may show some territorial behavior towards other gobies. Breeding behavior in captivity has been documented, with males guarding egg clutches.
