Thrórs

Thrór was a significant figure in the history of Durin's Folk, a king of Durin's Folk, and the grandfather of Thorin Oakenshield. He reigned during a period of great prosperity for the dwarves of Erebor, the Lonely Mountain. Under his rule, the wealth and power of the kingdom grew considerably, with the dwarves mining vast quantities of precious metals and jewels from beneath the mountain. Erebor became a renowned center of trade and craftsmanship.

However, this prosperity attracted the attention of the dragon Smaug. Smaug attacked Erebor in T.A. 2770, overwhelming the dwarves and driving them out of their ancestral home. Thrór, along with his son Thráin and grandson Thorin, was forced to flee. They wandered the wilderness for many years, living in hardship and poverty.

During their exile, Thrór's spirit became increasingly consumed by the loss of Erebor and the desire for vengeance. He became estranged from his son and eventually left them to search for the lost mines of Moria. It was in the dim ruins of Khazad-dûm that Thrór met his end. He was killed by Azog the Orc, who then desecrated his body. This act of brutality fueled the deep hatred between dwarves and orcs, leading to the War of the Dwarves and Orcs. Thrór's death was a pivotal moment, galvanizing the dwarves to fight back against their enemies and reclaim their lost glory, though he himself would not live to see it.
