Thermostaatventiels, often translated as thermostatic radiator valves (TRVs), are devices used to regulate the temperature of individual rooms. They are typically installed on hot water radiators. A thermostatic valve consists of a valve body and a thermostatic head. The thermostatic head contains a temperature-sensitive element, usually a wax or liquid-filled bellows. As the room temperature rises, the bellows expand, pushing a pin that gradually closes the valve. This restricts the flow of hot water into the radiator, reducing its heat output and thus lowering the room temperature. Conversely, as the room cools, the bellows contract, opening the valve and allowing more hot water to flow to the radiator, increasing its heat output.
