Testreszabást, or customization in Hungarian, refers to the process of tailoring a product or service to meet the specific needs or preferences of an individual user or organization. It involves modifying features, appearance, or behavior to fit particular requirements, rather than delivering a one-size-fits-all solution. The term derives from testre szabás, literally “tailoring to the body.”

In information technology, testreszabás covers configuration, personalization, and, in some cases, development work. It can be achieved through user settings, templates, feature toggles, themes, and integrations. A common distinction is that configuration changes do not require programming, while deeper customization may involve code changes or extensions and is treated as development. Examples include adjusting a CRM workflow, creating custom fields, or linking systems via APIs.

In manufacturing and services, testreszabás enables mass customization: producing standard components that can be combined or configured to meet individual orders. Modular product design, configurable options, and flexible supply chains support this approach, which is common in consumer electronics, automobiles, and online marketplaces.

Benefits include increased customer satisfaction, competitive differentiation, and closer alignment with real needs. Challenges involve higher complexity, cost, maintenance, compatibility, and governance needs to manage configurations, security, versioning, and documentation.
