Terrassierungen, also known as terracing, are a form of landscape modification where the ground surface is reshaped into a series of flat or gently sloping platforms, resembling steps. This technique is primarily employed to cultivate land on steep slopes, making agriculture possible in otherwise unusable terrain. By breaking down a large slope into smaller, manageable levels, terracing significantly reduces soil erosion caused by rainfall runoff.
