Terrano

Terrano is a name used in the automotive industry for sport utility vehicles produced by Nissan and its Renault–Nissan Alliance in different markets. The most prominent uses are Terrano II, a European‑market SUV introduced in the 1990s, and the Nissan Terrano, a compact crossover developed for the Indian market in the 2010s.

Terrano II was marketed in Europe and some other regions as a rugged, four‑wheel‑drive SUV. It was based on the Nissan Pathfinder platform and existed for a number of years before being phased out in most markets in the early 2000s. The model shared mechanicals with other late‑90s Nissan SUVs and offered off‑road capability that appealed to buyers seeking a compact, durable SUV.

The Nissan Terrano was launched for the Indian market in 2013 as a subcompact crossover built on the Renault Duster underpinnings. It was offered through Nissan dealerships and tailored to local preferences, including adjustments to styling and equipment. The Terrano in this market was updated through the decade with feature refinements, and its production and availability varied by generation and market demand.

Outside these primary uses, the Terrano name has appeared on limited‑run variants or concept studies in other regions, but it does not represent a single ongoing global model line. Today, Terrano is best understood as the designation used by Nissan for two regional SUV offerings rather than a single global model.
