Tenmangu
Tenmangu is a type of Shinto shrine in Japan dedicated to Sugawara no Michizane, a scholar and politician who lived in the 9th century. He was deified as Tenjin, the kami of scholarship, learning, and education. As a result, Tenmangu shrines are popular destinations for students praying for success in exams and academic pursuits.
Sugawara no Michizane was exiled to Kyushu after being falsely accused of treason by his political rivals.
