Temara

Temara is a coastal town in northwestern Morocco, situated along the Atlantic coast to the southwest of Rabat. It is part of the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region and is commonly regarded as part of the Rabat metropolitan area. The town lies near the Bou Regreg estuary and features a long sandy beach that is popular with residents and visitors, especially in summer. Temara has grown rapidly as a residential and recreational locality, with a mix of housing estates, schools, markets, and services that serve both locals and people from Rabat.

Economy and urban development: The economy is driven largely by services, commerce, tourism, and construction. Tourism centers on Temara Beach and related seaside amenities, while recent decades have seen substantial housing development to accommodate a growing population.

Transportation: Temara is connected to Rabat and other cities by road and rail. It has a railway station on the Rabat–Kenitra line that provides commuter service, and road links to the larger highway network permit access to Rabat and to other coastal towns.

Geography and culture: The town forms part of the Bou Regreg valley’s coastal belt, with nearby neighborhoods, markets, and parks reflecting its role as a suburban coastal community. Temara’s coastal location makes it a frequent weekend destination for people from Rabat and other nearby centers.
