Teavitustele

Teavitustele is a Finnish term commonly used in public administration and organizational communication to refer to official notices and the act of informing recipients. The concept covers both the content of the communication and the method by which it is delivered to individuals or organizations. In practice, teavitustele includes notices about administrative decisions, deadlines, service changes, safety warnings, and other information that requires notice to be provided to a recipient.

The scope of teavitustele encompasses various forms of communication, such as written notices sent by mail, electronic notices via official portals or email, and urgent alerts delivered through SMS or app notifications. A key principle is that recipients must be informed in a timely, accurate, and accessible manner. This often includes ensuring language appropriateness, readability, and availability in alternative formats for people with disabilities.

Legally and procedurally, teavitustele are part of information obligations in many administrative systems. Authorities aim to maximize reach and prevent information gaps, while also protecting privacy and data through appropriate handling and retention policies. The use of digital channels has expanded, but traditional methods such as paper notices remain in use where required or in cases where digital access is limited.

Examples include municipal announcements about elections or changes in local services, tax or benefit notifications, and emergency or public safety alerts. The term is often contrasted with tiedotus (general information) and ilmotus (public notice or summons) in Finnish administrative vocabulary.
