Tartuntapintansa is a Finnish term that translates to "infectious surface" or "contagion surface." It refers to any object or area that has the potential to transmit infectious agents, such as bacteria, viruses, or fungi, from one person or organism to another. These surfaces play a significant role in the spread of various diseases, especially in community settings.

Common examples of infectious surfaces include doorknobs, handrails, public transportation seats, countertops, shared utensils, and electronic devices like keyboards and mobile phones. The transmission typically occurs when an infected individual touches a surface, leaving behind pathogens. Subsequently, an uninfected individual touches the same contaminated surface and then touches their own mucous membranes, such as their eyes, nose, or mouth, leading to infection.
