Tanzensemble
Tanzensemble refers to a group of dancers who perform choreographies and present works in theatre, concert, or festival settings. In German-speaking countries, the term is commonly used to denote a dance company or company division dedicated to staged dance, but it is also used in English-language contexts as a direct translation for a dance ensemble. A Tanzensemble is usually organized under the artistic direction of a choreographer or director and operates in close collaboration with rehearsal directors, designers, and sometimes composers and dramaturges. The size and composition vary; a core ensemble may number from 6 to 30 dancers, supplemented by guest artists for specific productions or tours.
The repertoire spans a wide spectrum, from classical ballet-inspired pieces to contemporary and experimental works. Works
