Talpiot

Talpiot is a residential neighborhood in southern Jerusalem, Israel. It is part of the municipal area of Jerusalem and lies on the southern slopes of the Judean hills, extending east of the Armon Hanatziv area. The area is primarily composed of mid-rise apartment blocks interspersed with smaller residential buildings, local shops, and several public spaces. The Talpiot commercial corridor serves residents with groceries, services, and eateries.

Talpiot was established in the mid-20th century to accommodate a growing city and to house new Jewish immigrants after the 1948 war. Development continued through the 1950s–1970s with the construction of housing projects and the expansion of local amenities, including schools and community facilities. The name Talpiot is associated with historical or biblical references, and it was adopted for the neighborhood as part of Jerusalem's postwar growth.

Demographics are diverse within the framework of Jerusalem neighborhoods, with a mix of secular and religious Jewish residents alongside immigrant families. The area contains public schools, kindergartens, and community centers that support local activities. Transportation is provided by the city's bus network, and Talpiot is connected to surrounding neighborhoods and central Jerusalem by major roads.
