Talaru is a fictional sovereign state used in fantasy literature and tabletop role‑playing settings. Set in the northern seas of the imagined continent of Oraria, it is described as a compact archipelago with a strong maritime heritage. The name is said to come from the Talaric language, meaning "shore of winds."

Geography and settlement: The archipelago comprises twelve major islands and numerous islets, with rugged coastlines, fjords, and sheltered harbors. Forested interiors rise to plateaus and, on some islands, volcanic peaks. Navis, the principal port and capital, sits at the confluence of several sea lanes.

History: In its fictional chronology, Talaru formed through the unification of coastal city-states during the Turine Era and later adopted a constitutional framework in the eighteenth century, developing a merchant-oriented economy and a tradition of local autonomy within a central government.

Governance: Talaru is a constitutional semi-republic with a ceremonial monarch serving as head of state and a prime minister-led government. The bicameral legislature consists of a Senate and an Assembly; the judiciary is independent, and civil rights are protected by a charter.

Economy and society: The economy centers on fisheries, shipbuilding, timber, and related industries, with growing tourism, especially among maritime and cultural travelers. The talar, a plain currency, is used in trade with neighboring polities in the setting.
