Takauji
Takauji was a Japanese general and politician who played a significant role in the transition from the Kamakura to the Muromachi period of Japanese history. Born in 1306 in the Ashikaga clan, Takauji was a grandson of the famous general and regent, Minamoto no Sanetomo. Initially, he received a Buddhist education, but later he became interested in the art of war and strategy.
After the death of Emperor Go-Daigo in 1339, Takauji returned to Japan from his exile in China
Takauji was eventually declared shogun by Emperor Kōgon in 1338, marking the end of the Kamakura shogunate
