Taipumähäviöt

Taipumähäviöt is a Finnish term that translates to "bending losses" or "flexing losses" in English. It refers to the decrease in the efficiency or performance of a material or component when it is subjected to repeated bending or flexing. This phenomenon is commonly observed in materials like metals, plastics, and composite structures, as well as in components such as cables, wires, and flexible electronics.

The underlying cause of taipumähäviöt is the accumulation of micro-damage within the material due to the cyclic stress. When a material is bent, different parts of it experience tensile and compressive forces.
