Taenarion is a fictional city-state in the fantasy setting of Eldoria. Perched on a rocky peninsula facing the Azure Sea, it is known for its Gate District and for legends linking its foundations to ancient gateways between realms. The city functions as a major mercantile hub and strategic port.

The name Taenarion draws on the ancient Taenarion word for gateway, reflecting the city’s mythic role as a crossing point between shores, cultures, and, in local lore, between life and memory.

Geographically, Taenarion centers on a harbor district surrounded by limestone cliffs and terraced quarters, connected to the mainland by a single causeway. The Gate District sits at the promontory’s crest, housing ceremonial arches, the Gate of Night, and the temple precincts.

Historically, Taenarion rose as a trade outpost in the early post-cataclysm era, grew through maritime routes, and endured sieges by rival fleets. A tradition of gate-keeping emerged, with a council of captains and priests guiding rites, guilds, and harbor security.
