TGICvapaat
TGICvapaat is a term used in some Finnish-language contexts to denote products, particularly coatings or resins, that are free of triglycidyl isocyanurate (TGIC). TGIC is a trifunctional epoxy crosslinker that has historically been used in epoxy resins and TGIC-containing powder coatings. Due to concerns about potential health risks such as skin sensitization, TGIC-free formulations—often referred to in industry as TGICvapaat—are marketed as safer alternatives.
In production, TGIC-free formulations replace TGIC with alternative crosslinkers or resin systems, such as non-TGIC epoxy,
Applications for TGICvapaat formulations are wide and include architectural and decorative metal coatings, automotive and appliance
Testing and compliance typically involve supplier declarations and, where necessary, analytical verification to confirm the absence
Limitations and considerations: TGIC-free does not automatically guarantee superior performance in all conditions, and formulation choices
