T1i

The Canon EOS Rebel T1i, marketed as the Canon EOS 500D in Europe and other regions, is an entry-level digital single-lens reflex camera released by Canon in 2009 as part of the EOS Rebel series. It succeeded the XSi (EOS 450D) and was followed by the T2i (EOS 550D). The T1i is designed to appeal to photographers seeking a compact, versatile DSLR with beginner-friendly features and the ability to use Canon EF and EF-S lenses.

The camera is built around a 15.1-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor and Canon’s DIGIC 4 image processor. It uses the EF-S mount and supports SD/SDHC/SDXC memory cards. The T1i includes a 3.0-inch LCD screen and offers Live View with contrast-detect autofocus, a feature that facilitates composition from the rear display and macro or tripod work.

In terms of image and video capabilities, the T1i provides an ISO range of 100–3200, with available high ISO options via processing and firmware variants. It records HD video, specifically 720p, making it one of the earlier Rebels to add video recording to the core feature set. The camera employs a 9-point autofocus system for stills and offers standard shooting modes, automatic scene assistance, and manual controls for more experienced users.

Performance-wise, the T1i delivers moderate burst shooting speeds suitable for everyday photography and casual action sequences, with a focus on ease of use and accessibility. It also includes Canon’s dust reduction and initial sensor cleaning features common to many Canon DSLRs of the era.
